Botha and Lugard: The Beauty of an Enemy

Many of us love our friends and family members because they give us a sense of comfort and support, but despise the enemy.  Has it ever occurred to you why Jesus said that we should pray for our enemies or why in the Godfather movies, the Godfather instructed that we should always bring our enemies closer than our friends?  It took me a while to figure this out, and I believe it is because our perceived enemies are truly our best friends.  We only have to learn to listen to the unseen and make changes of improvement.  Your enemies truly do not want the best for you and will do whatever it takes to make you feel bad or eliminate you.  Your enemies tell you the naked and bitter truth to your face, and even go as far as making false realities true against you.  It all depends on how you react.  If you believe your enemy and conform, then your enemy is respectably truthful, but if you upgrade yourself for the better, then your enemy is a friend that owes you respect.

 

 

 

There are two African enemies that colonized two very different parts of Africa, and about sixty years apart.  The colonizers made statements from two different perspectives, but agreed on some points.  One wrote from the view of genuine observation while the other wrote from a hate perspective.  The former was Lord Lugard, who was the Governor-General of Nigeria in the early 1900s and the later is P.W. Botha, who was the symbol of Apartheid in South African during the 1980s. 

 

In a page of a book written by Lugard in 1926, which (the summary) can be found on http://www.edofolks.com/html/pub175.htm,  he describes the African as a group that lacks discipline, self-control, foresight, full of personal vanity, and lacks sense of truth.  He claims that the African live for the moment, is animalistic in mind compared to other races of people, have no organized religion and have vague dread for the supernatural.  He also suggests that the African lacks organizational and managerial skills for people and business, loves power and is unaware of its responsibilities, and enjoys working harder for less compared to other races.  He then concludes by saying that the African has great courage in fighting but not for moral virtues, and he is stupidly loyal to a superior. 

 

Now we will look at what Botha said to his governing members in 1985 without any link to either Lugard or Nigeria.  This can be found on http://www.edofolks.com/html/pub174.htm.  Botha justifies racism as a thing the civilize world does through means of murder, labeling, and passing of laws against inferior beings.  Botha claims that the African should be a raw material for the advancement of Europeans because the African is not only a symbol of poverty, but is also lazy, mentally inferior, and is emotionally incompetent.   He emphasizes that the African’s lack of moral and foresight for the future make it easy to induce him with money to turn against his very own.  He also adds that North America and Europe are strong supporters of Apartheid, and it is a necessity to prevent the African from leadership and populating through chemical poisoning in health centers, food, and soft drink channels.

 

A good analysis of these colonizers, points out that they both agree that the African is mentally inferior, lacks moral and foresight, lacks leadership, organizational, and managerial abilities, and are therefore, worthless and should be set aside from any form of respectable role.  What I would like to know is if the above conclusion is true.  If it is, are Africans naturally like that or is it a post slavery and colonial effect?  I will like to believe the later, after all, how did we create thriving empires like Egypt, Nubia, Cush (Ethiopia/Sudan), Benin (Nigeria), Mali, and Ghana?  The fact is that as an American that was raised in Nigeria and of proud Nigerian descent, I did notice that most Nigerians do not tell themselves the truth, they do lack moral and foresight, they are full of personal vanity, they love power but neglect its responsibilities, and indeed follow superiors stupidly, which in turn affects the overall leadership and managerial abilities that leads to increased productivity negatively.

Most Nigerians know the right way forward with all their intelligence, degrees, and international exposure, but they will always elect an old corrupt general from the past or the uneducated descendant of a chief or failed politician to office before they elect an obviously educated and disciplined man or woman.  They know that no infrastructure will be built nor will jobs be created, but they elect these leaders or rig the elections along tribal or party lines, so that stolen wealth can trickle down the family or lingual path to a selected few instead of creating a system of vision for all to prosper.  Their loyalty to political names, purchased chieftaincy titles with stolen wealth, and wealthy individuals without a livelihood, has given way to the rise of corruption and disregard for education, production, and creativity.  Many no longer want a system of vision that brings forth profit and progress for all, because they know that the presence of a disciplined good leader means falling to the bottom of the social status overnight.  This is because many do not or no longer have the education, skill, ability, training, technical-know-how, and understanding of how to maintain or multiply their ill gotten wealth.  All they have is hidden paper money in foreign account without a single business created for their country or an investment in an infrastructure to advance their country.

 

 

 

It is very easy to conclude that it is only in the continent of Africa that this madness takes place among peoples of African descent, but Tavis Smiley’s think tank program, which can be found on http://www.edofolks.com/html/pub176.htm disagrees with that line of thinking.  His observation shows that the African American have now being stagnant economically for about 150 years even after the abolition of slavery and the civil rights movement.  It also shows that during the entire and the same period, about 98% of African Americans still work for White America, and despite all our millionaires in the sports and entertainment industries, we still account for half of one percent of the total wealth of America during the same period.  So, not only has poverty increased among Africans in the most developed and most technological advanced country in the world, but Africans are also not producing enough to compete and employ others.  It shows that we spend more that we make, and that we are not spending within our available businesses to increase their ability to produce more and to employ more. 

 

So racism is not based on skin color, but it is based on the attitude towards productivity.  Africans are not looked down upon because they are dark skinned, but it is their skin that makes it easy for them to be classified.  So the lesson here is to either agree with your enemy by continuing the culture of allowing bad leaders to rule for selfish reasons and not fighting to install good ones, or become aggressively productive.  This can be accomplished by making and enforcing good laws that encourage the most disciplined and educated candidates with foresight, moral, and international exposure to seek office.  This is the foundation of progress and productivity.  It in turn yields to study to set one’s self approved.  This is the study of finance, economics, business, government, law, and civics.  It also includes the multiplication of wealth and employment, and not just love, romance, sports, fashion, and entertainment journals. This will make us produce products, services, and employees, it will give us the genuine platform to compete, and circulate our monies within the numerous services we now provide.  This is the only way to eliminate racism by 2100.  It can be done.
