1 Thessalonians 3:
Trials and persecutions are
part of living for God in Christ in a world of darkness and opposition to the
knowledge of God. Always test yourselves to remain firm in your faith in
Jesus Christ. See if you are still in God's Spirit or you have returned
to the flesh in search of worldly satisfaction for self ambition against
morality and community. Always pray regularly in order to be blameless
and holy in God's presence when Jesus returns in glory.
1 Thessalonians 4:
We are to live godly lives
and guard against sexual immorality (adultery, fornication, bestiality, and
homosexuality). We are to control our bodies with honor and not in lust
like the godless people. We are not to take advantage of a brother with
sexual impurity, but rather live in holiness and not reject God, who gives his
Holy Spirit. Be ambitious in living quiet lifestyles, mind your
business, and have your own jobs so that others will respect you and you will
not depend on any employer to make a living. God expects Christians
ultimately be self-employed in order not to be controlled by any employer,
government, or entity, but by God alone. Christians are to be content
with whatever they make in self-employment in order to avoid control by others.
We have the hope that just as Jesus rose from the death, so those who died in
him will also rise first to meet him in the clouds before those that are alive.
Jesus will come down from heaven with a loud cry of an archangel and the trumpet
call of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:
No one knows the date and
time that Jesus will return because it will be unexpected like a thief in the
night and no one can avoid it. We are children of light and day, but not
darkness. We are not asleep like the godless, but are alert and
self-controlled in order not to be surprised on that inevitable day. Always
encourage each other to stand firm in faith in Christ. Have respect for
your hard working leaders and live in peace with each other.
Speak against being idle, assist the weak, motivate the timid, be patient with
everyone, do not repay wrong with wrong, and practice kindness. It is
God's will that we should be joyful, always pray, and give God thanks.
Increase in God's Spirit, appreciate prophecies, test everything, avoid every
evil, and hold on to everything good.
