Jeremiah 9: God wants to weep all day for the dead people of Judah and would like to have a dwelling place for travelers in the dessert, because he would like to leave the adulterous and unfaithful people there. They triumph in the land based on lies and sins without acknowledging God. They are weary of sinning and dwell in deception. If your livelihood, career successes, and power is based on lies and deception rather than hard work and truth, God guarantees the death of your money, career, or even life. Let us all try to do what is right in God's eyes. Jeremiah 10: To Israel, God warns them not to follow other nations who read signs from the skies. The ways of these nations are worthless. The make idols by human hands to worship that cannot speak, are carried around because they cannot walk, and they can do neither harm nor good. It is total foolishness to worship or follow idols that are made by human hands to measure the value of your life. Man-made idols include money, unholy connections or alliances, unjust laws, racism, sexism, tribalism, or any form of social segregation. People worship these evils and abide by them in order to have advantages over others for resources rather than following the fairness and justice of God that benefits even the least of all. |

Jeremiah 11: God told Jeremiah to tell Judah and those in its capital, Jerusalem, that cursed is the man that does not obey the covenant God made with their fathers that if they obey all his commands, he will be their God and they will be his people. If they obey, they will possess the land flowing with milk and honey, which God promised their father, but if not, they will always see disaster they cannot escape from. The people of God plotted against Jeremiah to kill him. Jeremiah called on God for vengeance, and God was going to destroy those who swore to kill Jeremiah if he keeps prophesying in the name of God. People will always plan destruction, rejection, and delay for God's representative on earth. Just trust in God in order to overcome them eventually. God is very slow, but never late. It may appear that wickedness is succeeding initially, but with patience and persistence in doing good, the wickedness wears itself out and ruins the evildoer. |
