The new heaven and earth appeared because the old ones were destroyed and there was no more sea (water).  There was a new Jerusalem coming out of heaven and the dwelling of God was now with men (Emmanuel).  The old order is now gone and without water, death, tears, labor, regret, or pain.  God is making things new for his children to inherit, but the unbelieving cowards who were lairs, idolaters, sexually immoral, and murderers will get the second death in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.  The new Jerusalem had high walls in a shape of a square with 12 gates, which were guided by 12 angels, and each gate bore a name of the 12 tribes of Israel. Each side of the city had three gates and the 12 foundation of the city wall bore the names of the 12 apostles.  Each side of the city was about 1400 miles (if 1609 meters make a mile and a human occupies one meter square, then there will be about 2.6 million people in a square mile or about 3.6 billion people in the entire city since the beginning of time will make heaven - about half the world's population as of December 2013) and each wall was about 200 feet thick.  The entire city was adored with precious stones, gold, pearls, jasper, and transparent glass.  The city had no temple to worship because God and Jesus were the temple, and there was no sun or moon because God's glory was the light and Jesus was the lamp.  There was night and the gates were always opened because the kings of the earth will bring their splendor and glory into it.  Nothing impure, shameful, or deceitful will ever enter it, except those whose names are written in the book of life of Jesus.          

Revelation 22:

The river with the water of life, which was as clear as crystal, flowed from the throne of God and Jesus to the middle of the City's great street. The tree of life stood on each side of the river, which had 12 crops of fruits for each month of the year, and its leaves were for healing of the nations.  There will no longer be curses, God throne and that of Jesus will be in the city, and their servants will serve them with their name on their forehead. No need for lights from the sun or lamp, and there will be no night because God will provide light to reign forever.  God is the spirit of the prophets and he sent an angel to show John what will happen in future.  We are to ONLY worship God because angels, prophets, and the saved in Jesus are the same rank. Jesus is coming to reward and repay all for what we accomplished in life on earth.  Blessed are those who are justified to live in the city and have access to the tree of life, but the outsiders are those who liked falsehood, murder, sexual immorality, and magic. Jesus testifies that he is the root and descendant of David, as well as the bright morning star.  No one is to add or take away from the prophesy of Revelation because God will add plagues or prevent access to the tree of life and the holy city respectively.
