Genesis 17: When Abram was 99 years, God told him to be
blameless before God and God will fulfill their covenant and will multiply Abram
greatly. We must abide by God's rules for God to reward us with his
promise. God
promised to make Abram a father of many nations, father of kings, and changed his
name to Abraham. God was also going to be the God of his descendants and
all male must be circumcised at 8 days old or be cut off from the covenant. God
also changed Sarai's name to Sarah and promised to give her a child next year,
who should be called Isaac. God also makes it clear that God planned to
make Ishmael father of a great nation, but the covenant between God and Abraham
was with Isaac. So God also had high regards for Ishmael and he was not a
problem for neither God or Abraham like many Christians say. Abraham
then circumcised himself, Ishmael at the age of 13, and all the sons in his
household.
Genesis 18: Abraham saw three men outside of his house and he
offered them food. I guess he felt they were exhausted, so he wanted them
to rest at his place before they continued their journey. The men asked
for Sarah by name and assured Abraham that his wife will have a son at
this time next year, but Sarah overheard it and doubted if God could do the
impossible because she was old. The three men moved towards Sodom and
Gomorrah to see if all the outcry against them (prayer and complains to God) as
sinful was true, and Abraham escorted them. So God is very patient, but not all knowing. God even use human detectives (angels) to go spy on a nation
or person to verify all the prayers and complains against them. God
revealed all these to Abraham because he was the man of the covenant of a nation
by which other nations shall be blessed. Abraham (an ARAB MAN from Arabia)
was the CHOSEN ONE of God who was going to teach his descendants God's
righteousness and justice. As the three men moved on, Abraham asked God if
God was going to destroy the righteous with the wicked, but God replied that he
would not. Abraham then negotiated with God not to destroy the place if
there were at least 10 righteous people there, but God said there were not 10
righteous people there. When God's destruction comes to a place, the
righteous are protected. |

Genesis 19: Two angels of God came to Sodom in the evening, Lot,
Abraham's nephew, saw them and invited them to his house. Lot wanted them
to rest and eat before continuing their journey. It seems the righteous know how
to identify God and angels from ordinary men. The men, old and young, of Sodom
came to Lot's house and demanded that they have sex with the men (Homosexuality).
Lot had no choice but to offer his two virgin daughters to the men because
HOMOSEXUALITY was a worse crime than rape, fornication, or adultery. The
men of Sodom rejected the offer. They claimed that Lot, the foreigner, was now
acting as judge and wanted to do worse to him (sodomize him) than the men
(angels) in his house. The men of Sodom charged towards the door, but the angels
pulled Lot into the house and made all the men of Sodom blind to the extend that
they could not find the door. The angel then warned Lot to get his
loved ones out of the place because God had sent them to destroy it because of
the outcry against their way of life. Lot, his wife and two daughters ran
out of the city, but his sons-in-law that were engaged to his daughters did not
belief the warnings (they were condemned to death as men of Sodom). Lot
was slow, but the angel delayed till he got to safety. God then destroyed
Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and sulfur from heaven. Lots wife turned to
salt because she looked back instead of running forward from the sin cities (I
guess she missed her sinful life). Since the two daughters had lost their
future husbands and were now isolated, they made Lot, their father, drunk and
slept with him. One daughter gave birth to the father of the Moabites and
the other, the Ammonites. Lot most likely married a woman from Sodom and
their daughters were raised there too. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed
by God because of their injustice towards God's laws and not just homosexuality
like many Christians claim.
Genesis 20:
Sarah must have been a very pretty Arab woman because for a second time,
Abraham had to lie that she was his sister so that the African king will not have to
kill him and take her. King Abimelech took Sarah, but God told him to
return her to her husband or he will die for sleeping with His prophet's wife.
So Abraham was actually a prophet of God. The king claimed he was
deceived and God understood. The king then meet with Abraham the next day
and Abraham explained to him that Sarah was indeed his sister from a different
mother and they usually lie whenever to go to a new place for safety from
godless people. The king then gave Abraham servants and gifts, and also
allowed Abraham to stay wherever he pleased in his land. Abraham prayed for
the king, and God opened the wombs in his household because God had closed them because of Sarah. |
