Isaiah 39:

King of Babylon sent an envoy to Hezekiah, king of Judah, after he heard that Hezekiah had recovered from illness.  So Hezekiah showed the envoy all that he had in his treasures and store houses in terms of gold, silver, armory, spices, and fine oil.  Isaiah then went to Hezekiah and asked where the envoy came from and what he showed them.  Hezekiah then told him that they came from Babylon and he showed them everything.  Isaiah told him that God said that a time would come when all he has shown them will be carried off to Babylon, even his descendants as slaves.  Hezekiah then said it was good since it will not happen in his lifetime. Shame on Hezekiah!!!  He knew how to pray to God to extend his life when he was sick, but forgot how to pray when it came to his nation and children.  Never show anyone all your secrets and blessings.

Isaiah 40:

Comfort my people and speak tenderly to Jerusalem.  A voice calling in the desert will prepare the way for God’s glory to be shown to mankind (John the Baptist preparing the way for Jesus). Cry for the people because their life is like grass and flower that withers and falls, but God’s word is forever. 

Isaiah 41:

Be silent before me, let the nations renew their strength, and speak before the place of judgment. God gets a righteous helper from the east into his service (Jesus). God hands nations to him (Jesus) and subdue kings before him. God will judge all generations from the beginning to the last.
