Jeremiah 48:
God talks about the destruction of Moab. It has been like a rested wine in her youth, but now God will pour her out. She will be disgraced because she has defiled God. When things are good, live wisely and remember God. A time will come in the future when God will demand an account from you in this life.
Jeremiah 49:
God was going to bring destruction on the Ammonites for taking the land of Gad (in Israel) and will be driven out. God was going to punish Edom (descendants of Esau) for lack of wisdom. Edom was going to be left bare like Sodom and Gomorrah. God will set fire on Damascus as she trembles in fear. God encourages King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to attack Kedar and Hazor. God was going to scattered Elam with wind from the four corners of heaven, set God’s throne there, but will restore her in the future.
Jeremiah 50:
God declares that a nation from the north will attack and capture Babylon. In those days, Israel and Judah will come and know God again. God’s people have been roaming around in Babylonian captivity but at that time, God’s people will flee from Babylon because an alliance of northern nations will conquer her (Africans from around the world will flee from their nations of refuge and enslavement to return home). Despite the fact that God used the Babylonians to punish the Jews, and God even called their king his servant, God will now destroy Babylon for enjoying the slavery and oppression of his people. So nations that profited from slavery, colonization, and apartheid shall be run over by others. Whenever God gives you the upper hand over others, deal with them nicely and respectfully. Otherwise, God will come back to punish you for it.
